Maternal Journal uses creative journaling to help restore some balance around the new feelings and challenges we might experience, both physically and emotionally, through pregnancy, birth and new parenthood.

’Thank you Sarah, for creating such a supportive, welcoming and safe
space for us to share, laugh, write and cry together. It has been the
most powerful and necessary experience of my mothering journey.’

By setting up a regular creative practice, you allow yourself time and space to record and reflect on your experiences – both happy moments and tougher times. This group is a chance to connect with other parents, which we need now more than ever, and share your experiences in a supportive space.

Topics:
Session 1: Poetry to explore advice in pregnancy and parenthood
Session 2: Mark-making to explore your relationship with, and feelings about your pregnant or postnatal body
Session 3: Free writing and poetry exploring who I was/I am/who I want to be
Session 4: Automatic Drawing to explore feelings around pregnancy and birth and how you're feeling today
Session 5: Writing in the gap with poetry to explore the changes that come with motherhood/parenthood
Session 6: Free writing and poetry about revolutionary motherhood

Ticket price includes journal, art supplies and refreshments.

Please be aware that strong feelings can emerge during the group workshops, and they are not recommended for people with a history of severe mental illness.

WHAT PEOPLE ARE SAYING ABOUT SARAH AND SAKINA:

I attended the Mothermoon workshop yesterday guided by the lovely and wise Sarah and left feeling much more confident, informed, and excited for what lies ahead! Thank you for your help!

Thank you, thank you! Fantastic session Sarah on Sunday, really helped me gain a better understanding of what to expect and how to look after myself and baby in the first 4-6 weeks. Have used the info you have given me and shared with my hubby and parents so they know what to expect and to spread the word amongst family about how the can be of help and not hinder us.

I can't describe how grateful we are for your help and guidance Sakina, which transformed our experience into something that was tough, but definitely positive!

I have a positive birth story, the midwives shocked at how calm I was and that I was 'smiling between contractions'. Thank you so much for the course, even though I was close to EDD the material and course helped so much.
